THE BOOK

People who know me and read this book will be surprised by my encounter with the Lord because I have never experienced supernatural events and am very skeptical when I hear such stories. No one could be more conservative in his or her spiritual or overall life in general than I am.

Everything changed from that point. I knew that God was with me in this, and I was being trained by this injury. Hebrews 12:11 states, “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”

I was going to be trained by this injury rather than have it overcome me. I have had to remind myself of that many, many times over the years, as there are days of pain and loss of ability that hinder me still and that will increase as I grow older. The truth today is the same as the truth when my injury happened and will be the same truth in the years to come. That truth—that the love of the Lord will sustain me—carries me through. I also know that if the time comes when I no longer have the use of my arms or legs, I do not need them to love God, and I know regardless of my state that He loves me.
